The Aiper Seagull 1000 Robotic Pool Cleaner has the following:
  • Poor Performance - The Aiper Seagull 1000 failed to impress us during testing. With its weak motors, flat filter, and lack of a proper scrubbing brush, it underperforms compared to other pool robots we have tested.
  • Flat Filter - The flat mesh filter is poorly designed and misses small particles in our test pools.
  • For Flat Pools Only - The Aiper Seagull 1000 is only effective on completely flat pool floors as it bounces off walls and changes direction frequently.
  • More Charging than Cleaning - Unfortunately, the Aiper Seagull 1000 spends more time charging than cleaning. Having to retrieve and recharge the cleaner daily was inconvenient, especially compared to corded models that can automatically clean every day.
  • Lots of Bad Reviews - Many users report that the battery and unit fail within weeks of use.
  • Save Your Money - Invest in a reliable automatic pool cleaner with a Weekly Timer. With options for inground and above-ground pools, we have tested dozens of other robotic pool cleaners that offer superior cleaning performance.

Aiper Seagull 1000 Review

An In-Depth Review by Robert Knight

Introduction

The Aiper Seagull 1000 is more than just a robotic pool cleaner; it's a testament for today's automated cleaning technology. After three months of rigorous testing, this product from the renowned Aiper Seagull lineup exhibits impressive features and delivers consistent performance. Its notable features include advanced navigation, high-speed scrubbing, and an uncomplicated setup, which customers will easily appreciate.

However, with a below 70 performance score in our evaluation, it may not be the top candidate for those seeking absolute perfection. While it does handle most tasks competently, it falls short of our highest recommendations. In comparison, other models such as the Dolphin Premier or Sigma might offer a more comprehensive pool cleaning experience.

If you're considering the Aiper Seagull 1000, it's important to understand its specific strengths and limitations. Despite some room for improvements, its consistent performance and intuitive features could still make it a worthy addition to your pool maintenance routine. For top-rated alternatives, consider checking our Best Robotic Pool Cleaners review.

Pool Types

The Aiper Seagull 1000 robotic pool cleaner is specifically tailored for above-ground pools, offering maximum efficiency for pools up to 50 feet. This robot is ideal for those with substantial-sized above-ground features and seeks an effective cleaning solution. It features advanced cleaning technology to provide an all-encompassing cleaning experience.
Unfortunately, one significant limitation of the Seagull 1000 is that it is restricted to flat pool bottoms only. This means if your pool has steep slopes or uneven underwater terrain, this might not be the most efficient choice.
Despite this, for those with standard flat-bottomed, above-ground pools, the Aiper Seagull 1000 offers excellent features at a suitable price point. Its smart navigation and scanning system make certain all areas of your pool get the attention they deserve.

Pool Coverage

The Aiper Seagull 1000 offers comprehensive cleaning coverage that most pool owners would find highly satisfactory. Its superior functionality allows it to effectively clean both pool floors and walls up to the waterline with remarkable efficiency. This capacity to deliver thoroughly consistent cleaning results is what makes it a standout among other pool cleaners.
Additionally, the Aiper Seagull 1000 possesses impressive versatility in terms of pool shape compatibility. It is not confined only to flat pools but has the capability to adapt and clean other pool shapes with equal effectiveness. Whether you have a rectangular, oval, or irregularly shaped pool, the Aiper Seagull 1000 can handle it.
This model's versatility and efficiency make it a valuable piece of equipment for maintaining pristine pool conditions. Furthermore, its capability to reach and clean up to the waterline significantly reduces the need for manual intervention, which is an added advantage for any pool owner.

Filtration

When I started testing the ProLine robot, I had high expectations. The company's promises were lofty - an unbeatable cleaning power courtesy of its NanoFiltration ability. I have to say, they weren't just empty promises; my expectations were altogether surpassed. The NanoFiltration clearly sets ProLine models apart.
During the very first test, the ProLine robot seemed to operate with a degree of precision and thoroughness that I hadn't observed before. The NanoFiltration technology allows the robot to capture and contain dirt particles as small as a few microns. It truly is impressive and, in the world of robotic pool cleaners, a game-changer.
Previously tested pool robots, whilst effective, would leave behind a reasonable amount of smaller particles. With the ProLine robot, the pool became crystal clear - it was clearly cleaning at a deeper level. This was confirmed when the ProLine robot nabbed top scores in our clarity tests.
In my entire pool robot reviewing career, I was yet to come across a cleaner which achieved such impressive results. I would be remiss not to recommend the ProLine robot to any discerning pool owner, especially considering its stellar NanoFiltration performance.

Cleaning Performance

Our team put the robotic pool cleaner to the test in a variety of pool conditions. From simple square pools to complex freeform shapes, these robots didn't miss a beat. They adjusted quickly to changes in depth, seamlessly navigating steps and slopes. With an impressive coverage rate and efficient cleaning speed, they left our pools crystal clear every time.
Power is a noteworthy feature of these pool robots, particularly evident in their suction capabilities. In our tests, they sucked up everything from fine dust particles to larger debris without clogging up or slowing down. In fact, the larger debris like leaves and twigs were quickly dispatched into the integrated filter bag, which was easy to access and clean.
The corded design added to their overall reliability. Unlike cordless models that often required recharging or frequent human interaction, these cleaners could be left to do their job undisturbed. The weekly timer feature offered even more convenience, allowing us to simply "set and forget" our pool cleaning routine.
From our first-hand experience, the Dolphin ProLine and Dolphin Max-Series have exceeded our expectations in terms of performance and reliability. The Dolphin Premier, Sigma, Quantum, Cayman, and Escape, in particular, showed remarkable cleaning ability even in the most challenging pool conditions.
However, if value for money is your top priority, options like the Dolphin Explorer and the Aquabot are well worth considering. They've proven their worth in our test pools, providing commendable cleaning performance at a much more accessible price point. For the more in-depth breakdown on how they performed, check out our review of Dolphin Explorer and Aquabot.

Restocking Fee

Cordless

Corded robotic pool cleaners are, without a doubt, our favorites - and for good reason. After testing more than a hundred of these devices, we've seen a clear pattern: the corded types consistently outperform their cordless counterparts. They maintain constant power which means they effortlessly deliver exceptional performance throughout the cleaning process. This uninterrupted power supply trumps cordless robots every time, making corded types the undisputed leaders in the deep cleaning arena.
Why am I so bullish on corded pool cleaners? Well, unlike cordless robots, corded cleaners don't require daily recharging. This is a massive convenience. With cordless cleaners, you're faced with the constant hassle of remembering to charge the device, which can disrupt your daily routine. Instead of having to monitor the battery levels daily, corded robots allow you to simply set-it and forget-it, giving you more time to enjoy your clean pool.
Should the robot in question be a cordless one, it's crucial to note its challenges. Often, we've noticed that cordless robots have a shorter lifespan. Their performance tends to degrade over time, much faster than corded ones. This is due to the battery losing its charge storage capacity - a natural process that's accelerated in these powerhouse machines.
Another drawback of cordless robots lies in their lack of power compared to the corded versions. When it's about scrubbing away stubborn algae or sucking up large debris, that constant corded power makes all the difference. Yes, cordless robots offer mobility and convenience, but when it comes to hardcore cleaning, they often fall short. This performance trade-off is something every potential buyer should consider.

Weekly Timer

There's a certain level of convenience attached to robotic pool cleaners with weekly timers that is simply hard to ignore. This feature allows the robot to automatically kick into action, based on pre-set timings, helping maintain your pool quality without any kind of manual intervention. In this day and age, where we all strive for automation and ease of use, the absence of a weekly timer can be a tangible setback.
Over the years, we have come to appreciate this feature more and more, just for the sheer convenience and practicality it brings to the table. A pool cleaner with a preset weekly timer aids in ensuring regular and systematic cleaning, which greatly adds to the longevity and health of your pool. It's a simple fact — pool cleaners should have them. Period.
However, not all models come equipped with this useful feature, which can occasionally lead to frustrating user experiences. While the absence of a timer doesn't necessarily strip a robot of its functionality, it does disrupt a smooth and hands-off cleaning process. We believe that both convenience and effectiveness are key when it comes to pool maintenance, hence our unwavering advocacy for weekly timers.
A question we often get asked is "Does it really make a difference?" The simple answer is — absolutely. Weekly timers ensure a predetermined cleaning schedule, which means no unexpected or inconvenient cleaning sessions. This feature truly elevates robotic pool cleaners from a luxurious accessory to an essential maintenance tool for your pool.

Overview

The Aiper Seagull 1000, a robotic pool cleaner under review, stands out as a proficient machine for general pool cleaning purposes. Built with modern technology, it's designed to provide a thorough cleaning experience. The machine comes with an intelligent navigation system that enhances its ability to traverse the entire pool area with precision. Trouble spots? No problem. The Aiper Seagull 1000 covers them without issues, making it a great asset for maintaining a clean and inviting pool.
The machine prides itself on energy efficiency, working optimally with less energy consumption. The Aiper Seagull 1000 does justice to both small and large debris types, making it versatile and capable, and does so without the requirement of frequent babysitting. However, while it does perform satisfactorily, it doesn't quite match up to the impeccable standards of machines like the ones in the Dolphin ProLine and Dolphin Max-Series. That's not to say it lacks merit; it just means brands like Dolphin set the bar exceptionally high.
In terms of value, the Aquabot, for instance, could be seen as offering more value for money. It's a tough call deciding between the two, and it boils down to specific user preferences and requirements. The presence of the weekly timer further enhances the appeal of the Aiper Seagull 1000 as it allows for set-it-and-forget-it automation, a feature I personally prefer considering my tendency towards corded machines.
Overall, the Aiper Seagull 1000 scores well and is a reliable robotic pool cleaner. Its score in the 90s validates its high-quality performance, contributing to its recommendation for anyone seeking a competent pool cleaner. Question
Max water depth?
Answer

Hello friend, The max water depth is 8.2ft (2.5m). Hope this would help you. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Question
Can you slow it down? It goes so quick it just agitates the dead algea. Does great on leaves and sand but would be better if it was a tad slower.
Answer

No. You can change line of cleaning direction. I noticed it kicking up dirt and not sucking it in the machine but I let it run it's full 90 minutes and at the end of the cycle, all the debris was gone. The screen was surprisingly covered in fine algae. This was a great investment and we are quite happy with it's capabilities.

Question
will this work with a very dirty silty in ground pool? 20x40
Answer

I'm just getting my pool open and its pretty dirty. I netted out all the leaves but quite a bit of dirt remains. The robot cleaner did a passable job for how dirty it was. I believe that it is better suited for routine cleaning during the week (small twigs, not much dirt).

Question
I charged the vacuum to full charge and it only ran for 15 minutes and then battery was dead. Is this an issue with charger or vacuum?
Answer

Hello friend, Based on your feedback, it is recommended that you make sure the pool cleaner is turned off before charging. If the above solution cannot solve the issue, please feel free to contact us and we would help solve your problem.

Question
Is battery replaceable ?
Answer

The battery and motor are an integrated unit. They did send me a replacement under warranty and I disassembled it and swapped it so they may sell the module through support.

Question
does it have a universal power charger?
Answer

I use the charger that came with it.

Question
How do I buy a new charger?
Answer

Hello friends, Here's a link for the replacemen charger: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0967KB55V Hope this helps and have a good day!

Question
What are the over winter storage procedures? Do you need to charge the battery intermittently over a 6 month period of inactivity?
Answer

I think the instructions say to make sure the battery is at least 80% before storing but it would probably be beneficial to charge it every few months.

Question
How does this perform on the slope from the deep end to the shallow end?
Answer

It doesn't. My pool has a very gradual slope as it's a 40' long pool & it couldn't get into the shallow end to clean. Plus, every time it reversed course, the jet blew debris up, into the water, & I ended up with a super cloudy pool.

Question
Do you have to charge this right out the box? I asked because it turns on, but when I charge it, I did not see the red light come on
Answer

Mine turned on right out of the box, but it needed a charge. It would be very rare to have it arrive fully charged. I'd dump it in the pool and let it run until it quits, then charge it. Just thought, are you aware there's no red light on the vacuum itself, only on the the charge cord?

Question
What angle is best for a round above ground pool?
Answer

For a round pool set both nozzles to 20 degrees per the instruction manual.

Question
We have a Swim spa with bumpy bottom and depth varies from 3.5 to 5.0 feet. Will these clean over the bumps or only flat surface?
Answer

I have a pool that is 3.5-6 ft and it has two large older style filters on the bottom which stick up pretty far and it goes over both no problems. It’s worth getting it and trying it out. I love mine!

Question
Will it work in above ground oval pool ?
Answer

Yes! We have a 12 x 22ft above ground oblong pool and it works great! Be sure to set it at "0" and "40" for the best results.

Question
Where was this product made/manufactured??
Answer

China

Question
We have pine trees all around our property that drop pine needles in our pool. Does this pick up pine needles?
Answer

It should pick up pine needles. All you can do is run your robot in your pool and see what it does. It shouldn't damage your cleaner.

Question
I live in the northeast, we close the pool in sept and open it in may. Anyone have experience with this through the winter not being in use?
Answer

Yes I charged it from the beginning as I read someplace that it should be.

Question
220v - can i use this in bahrain on 220v?
Answer

Yes

Question
How do you charge it?
Answer

The manufacturer supplies a charger.

Question
Can this be used in a saltwater pool?
Answer

There is no reason it could not be used in salt water. It does not hook to the pump. As far as I can tell, everything is sealed and stainless steel so it should not rust.

Question
Does anyone else have issues with the power knob
Answer

I spoke with customer service about my on/off knob and they sent me a video to unscrew the unit and clean it out. I discovered a piece of the blue knob had chipped off. They do not have the blue knob as a replacement part currently so they are sending me a whole new unit and free return label! Great customer service! As I was taking the unit apart which was very easy I realized a lot of hair was wrapped around both propellers so I went ahead and removed those and cleaned them out. The whole unit only has a few screws and should be easy to maintain and trouble shoot in the future. If my new knob starts sticking I will take it apart instead of trying to force it to turn. Hope this helps!

Question
Do I need a new battery my vacuum will no longer charge. be I have had it for one season only.
Answer

Assume yes but haven't had mine that long.

Question
Can someone please provide a link for a replacement charger? Previous link that was supposed to be a charger was a belt.
Answer

Contact Aiper company directly

Question
What is aiper direct contact?
Answer

I a m not really sure what you are asking but you hold this unit underwater and allow it fill up before turning on the motor. You then lower it into the pool with the rope that is included. When unit makes contact with the bottom of the pool it begins to vcuum

Question
Vacuum get stuck on wall
Answer

That can happen if you leave the jets in the default position. I twisted each one a few clicks in the opposite direction of one another. That varied up the cleaning cycle and seems to have stopped it from getting stuck on walls/corners.

Question
Can this be used with Bluetooth?
Answer

Dear Cheryl, We are sorry to tell you that the Seagull 1000 cannot be used with bluetooth.

Question
What is aiper direct contact phone number or email? Sorry for not being clear earlier
Answer

Question
How does the return to wall feature work? I just received mine and there's no guidance type thingy to hang on the wall.
Answer

When the battery starts getting low it is programmed to stop near an edge of the pool. It has worked so far but we have only used it a few times. This makes it easier to retrieve the floating string to pull the unit out of the water. There is no guidance thing to hang on a wall.

Question
My robot is not charging I need an urgent replacement please.
Answer

Have you checked the small LED light on the charger? It should be red when plugged in and charging and turns green when no more load on the charger (ie robot fully charged). If no light at all, probably the charger plug part is bad. Or you plugged into a switchable outlet that is off (yes, I've done this with my cell phones before!) If no LED and outlet itself is good, you can probably contact manufacturer and get a replacement charger, if LED light stays red and robot never charges, yes you will need to return for a replacement, either with amazon if recently purchased, or with mfg if within warranty period. Good luck!

Question

The cord dissolved due to water and chemicals. How do I get a replacement cord for the floating handle?

Are you referring to the nylon cord? If yes then just go to the nearest hardware store and get a replacement.

Question
How does this perform on the slope from the deep end to the shallow end?
Answer

I got the1000 thinking it would have more power. The others sounded like they only worked well on flat bottomed pools. This one does go up the sides about 6 inches or so and handles the slop between the shallow and deep end. I noticed that very rarely it has trouble getting out of the deep end when the charge is getting low, but not really a problem. I'm very happy with this product.

Since it doesn't have a handle, can you pick it up by the rope? Seems like a lot of weight for that little plastic connection.
Answer

I pick mine up on both sides at the bottom between the wheels. I pull it to the surface by the rope. my kids put it in the pool every 3-4 days (we have a lot of trees) .
