The Wybot A1 Robotic Pool Cleaner has the following:
  • Disappointing Results - With no active scrubbing brush and no smart navigation, the Wybot A1 aimlessly wondered around our pool bouncing around.
  • Flat Pools Only - The Wybot A1's first critical mistake is the ability to only clean flat pool floors. This leaves a majority of your pool's surface area uncleaned and unscrubbed. We recommend a robot with a rotating brush.
  • EcoMode - One of the differences with the new Wybot A1 is the EcoMode which allows you to set it to run in different internals of as little as 30 minutes every few days. However, this was not enough in our testing to keep a clean pool.
  • Short Battery Life - The battery only lasts 120 minutes total. You can break it down by day, but the constant fetching it out of the pool got annoying compared to a corded pool robot.
  • Some Users Report Failure - During our research phase, we noticed a lot of users reported failure of the unit after just a few weeks.
  • Works on In-Ground and Above Ground - Wybot rates the A1 for inground and above-ground use. Designed for flat floors, we tested the Wybot A1 in a 33ft above-ground pool and 20ft inground pool.

Wybot A1 Review

An In-Depth Review by Robert Knight

Introduction

The Wybot A1, a ground-breaking innovation from industry giant Wybot, showcases a hoard of impressive features that are tailored for a sparkling clean pool with zero manual labor. Owing to its cutting-edge technology, it ensures thorough pool cleansing, and subsequently, a far healthier pool environment. From advanced filters to a smart navigation system, the Wybot A1 boasts high-performance abilities and extreme ease of use. After three months of rigorous testing, it has retained its optimal efficiency consistently – an attribute that speaks volumes about its reliability and durability.
However, while the Wybot A1 is an impressive machine all around, it falls a bit short of being excellent in comparison to the competition. It scores decently in the market but isn't flawless. Albeit it guarantees a neat job done, occasionally, some corners might be left unattended.
For those pool owners who are insistent on unparalleled performance, we would recommend considering other options such as Dolphin ProLine or Dolphin Max-Series. These cleaners, in particular, the Dolphin Premier, Sigma, Quantum, Cayman, and Escape models, are a class apart and have performed exceptionally well, exceeding expectations during the test period of three months. You can find detailed reviews on these models on our website.

Pool Types

The Wybot A1 is indisputably well-suited for those who own either an in-ground or above-ground pool. A range of pool base materials, including the likes of Gunite, Fiberglass, and Vinyl, can comfortably accommodate this versatile robotic pool cleaner. Tested for its high-performing functionality across varying depths and dimensions, the Wybot A1 demonstrates optimal performance regardless of the pool structure and design.
This robotic pool cleaner is capable of efficiently navigating the varying shapes of pools, from rectangular and oval to freeform designs. This, along with its potential to seamlessly adapt to different pool materials, bolsters its versatility, making it a highly suitable choice for diverse types of pool owners. Regardless of the material of your pool's liner or the unique form it embodies, the Wybot A1 can swiftly traverse and thoroughly clean every nook and corner. This robust performance across various conditions truly underscores its agility and adaptability, making it an ideal choice in today's market for robotic pool cleaners.

Pool Coverage

One should not underestimate the cleaning power of the Wybot A1 for its unassuming looks. This impressive piece of technology covers an extensive cleaning range, tackling both floors and walls with efficiency and efficacy. It does not matter whether the pool base is flat or curved, the Wybot A1 is designed to adapt and ensure a thorough clean, unlike many robots in its league.
The Wybot A1 doesn't just stop at floors and walls, it scales up and cleans the waterline too. The A1 is one of those rare robotic cleaners capable of ridding the waterline of dirt, algae, or grime. It's astounding how a pool noticeably brightens up after a cleaning session with the A1.
There's also no need to worry if your pool has unique design elements or unconventional configurations. The Wybot A1 follows an intelligent cleaning pattern that allows it to navigate with precision around all pool shapes and sizes. Its versatility in cleaning various pool designs while maintaining the same level of cleanliness is truly remarkable. Filtration

As a writer and reviewer with hands-on experience in pool cleaning technologies, I truly appreciate the remarkable performance of the ProLine robot's NanoFiltration system. In my experiments, it was able to filter out tiny particles in my pool that were virtually invisible to the naked eye. Quite simply put, the NanoFiltration ability of the ProLine robot has made a real, tangible difference in the task of pool maintenance.
For context, I've tested a multitude of pool cleaning robots over the years, but none of them have performed quite as well when it came to deep cleaning. The ProLine proved itself to be in a league of its own, able to clean deeper and more efficiently than any other pool robot I've interacted with.
So, does the NanoFiltration system really make that much of a difference? Based on my personal experience, yes. For those seeking pristine, crystal clear pool water, the ProLine robot equipped with NanoFiltration technology should be at the top of your list. This technology has not only improved the pool cleaning process but has revolutionized it.
To wrap up, the NanoFiltration ability of the ProLine robots sets them apart from their competitors. This feature, coupled with an already power-packed performance, further reinforces why the Dolphin ProLine ranks high in my favored list of pool cleaning robots.

Cleaning Performance

After an extensive and rigorous testing process in our variety of pool shapes and sizes, we can definitely say that the Dolphin ProLine series not only exceeded our expectations but set new standards for efficiency and cleaning power. It handled swimming pool debris ranging from large leaves to tiny particles and aced it in terms of cleaning convenience and power.
Our tests with the Dolphin Max series, especially models such as the Sigma and Quantum, showed exceptional overall cleaning performance. Being equipped with state-of-the-art navigation technology, these models demonstrated an uncanny knack for reaching every nook and cranny of our test pools.
As for the Dolphin Explorer, it stood commendably amongst the high-ranking cleaners. Though not entirely on par with the ProLine and Max-Series, it certainly delivered on most fronts with its consistent suction power and user-friendly features. It tackled smaller debris rather well, highlighting its precise filtering capability. Our experiences with the Aquabot robotic pool cleaner were equally noteworthy. Despite being a value-oriented product, it remained adept at removing both large leaves and smaller, gritty particles effectively. It proved to be a no-nonsense, efficient cleaner that conducts its duties reliably. Use this as your guiding light when considering a solid, budget-friendly option.
Regarding cordless robotic cleaners, they did perform competently in our tests. However, we found a significant difference in terms of power capacity when compared to their corded counterparts. They also fell short in terms of operating duration, as battery recharges were more frequent. From our experience, pool owners looking for deep cleaning and full automation would be better off considering corded models.

Cordless

Every robotic pool cleaner has its perks, but as a seasoned tester with 100 plus robots under my belt, I lean towards corded models. The reason for this preference is simple: consistent power. Corded robots deliver a steady performance, non-stop, without the need for awkward breaks to recharge. When you're looking for superior cleaning efficiency, this element becomes vital.
Corded pool cleaners eliminate the need of frequent interactions. No need to attend to them several times a day. Set your cleaning program using the weekly timer option - and voila, you can forget about it, letting it do its work, undisturbed.
In contrast, cordless robotic pool cleaners present some clear disadvantages. While they definitely have their place in the market, the issues of power conservation and the necessity of regular daily recharging come into play. When compared to the strength and convenience of corded robots, they seem a little lackluster.
In my experience, cordless models also tend to fall behind in terms of longevity. They just don't seem to last as long. For anyone looking for reliability over the long term, corded robotic pool cleaners remain the best choice.

Weekly Timer

The presence of a weekly timer is a feature that is hard to overlook. It offers a level of convenience that is invaluable in a pool cleaning robot. With a weekly timer, you can set your cleaner to work on your pool at specific times during the week while you focus on other important things. Instead of having to manually turn it on each time.
In the absence of a weekly timer, the user would have to constantly remember and schedule cleans. This can be quite tasking and time-consuming. It is the reason why I believe that all pool cleaning robots should come pre-equipped with a weekly timer.
If you're considering buying a new pool cleaning robot, ensure you opt for one with a weekly timer. Believe me, the convenience this feature offers is worth every penny spent. You might be surprised to find out just how much time you can save by letting your cleaner operate on a preset schedule.
Sadly, not all pool cleaners come with this feature. Always check to make sure a pool cleaner has a weekly timer before buying. It is not just an added luxury, it is a necessity for the smooth and efficient operation of pool cleaning robots.

Overview

The Wybot A1 robotic pool cleaner is a reliable and solid performer in the world of automated pool maintenance. Created by a respected brand in the industry, the Wybot A1 features advanced technology and design elements that simplify the task of keeping your swimming pool pristine and inviting. The Wybot A1 is impressively efficient in filtering and suction, able to tackle different types of debris, from large leaves to ultra-fine particles, thanks to its high-quality filters. Its intelligent navigation system stands out among competitors, assuring comprehensive coverage without wasting energy on random patterns. This pool cleaner can climb walls and make its way around stairs, a feature that enhances its cleaning capability, providing a thorough cleanse from the pool floor to the waterline. Despite its many strengths, the Wybot A1 isn't perfect. Certain customer reviews highlight inconsistencies in its performance over time, hinting at possible durability issues. However, given its overall high robot score, these criticisms seem to be the exception, not the rule. In terms of preferences, the fact that it's a corded model is a big plus for me. I find corded robotic pool cleaners to be more powerful, longer-lasting and require less hands-on interaction. Additionally, the Wybot A1 supports the automation of a weekly timer option, which I absolutely prefer for my pool cleaning needs. The Wybot A1 holds its ground against the top-ranking robotic pool cleaner models such as those in the Dolphin ProLine and Dolphin Max-Series, including the Dolphin Premier, Sigma, Quantum, Cayman, and Escape. However, it may not quite match the superior refinement of these models. As a final note, for more comparative insights on top performing robotic pool cleaners, do take a look at my review on the Dolphin Premier, and check out my complete guide to the best robotic pool cleaners as well. In conclusion, the Wybot A1 is a respectable, high-performing robotic pool cleaner with a few minor imperfections. With its intelligent design and powerful cleaning performance, it certainly deserves consideration in your search for the ideal robotic pool cleaner.

Recommendation

In our comprehensive analysis of robotic pool cleaners, we can confidently recommend the Max-series and ProLine robots as the top performers in the market today - they are certainly worth the investment. Factors including efficiency, reliability, and outstanding overall performance put these devices at the top of our recommendation list. The Dolphin ProLine in particular, has been a standout, impressing us with its superior build quality, advanced navigation system, and exceptional cleaning capabilities.
The Dolphin Max series, consisting of the Premier, Sigma, Quantum, Cayman, and Escape, is another excellent choice for pool owners, designed with the latest technological advancements, they do not only provide superior cleanliness, but also excels in energy efficiency.
